Mayawati is BSP chief

NEW DELHI SEPT. 22. The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BSP leader, Mayawati, today formally took over as the party national president in the wake of the BSP chief, Kanshi Ram's illness.

Ms. Mayawati, till now the party vice-president, was unanimously elected its national president on September 18 at a meeting of the BSP's central general body. — PTI
