Rain likely in coastal A.P. CHENNAI SEPT. 22. Rainfall occurred at a few places over North Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Isolated rainfall occurred over south Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, North interior Karnataka and Kerala. Mainly dry weather prevailed over coastal Karnataka and Lakshadweep and dry weather prevailed over south interior Karnataka.

Polur (Thiruvannamalai dt.) recorded a very heavy rainfall of 13 cms. Ambur (Vellore dt.) and Arani (Tiruvannamalai dt.) recorded a heavy rainfall of 11 and 7 cms. respectively.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms. are: Barur (Dharmapuri dt.) and Kuppam (Chittur dt.) 6 each, Vellore, Thirupattur and Krishnagiri (Dharmapuri dt.) 5 each, Bidar City 4, Gingee (Villpuram dt.), Vaniyambadi (Vellore dt.) and Thirumangalam (Madurai dt.) 3 each, Sholinghur (Vellore dt.), Uthangarai (Dharmapuri dt.), Thuraiyur (Thiruchirapalli dt.), Visakhapatnam Airport, Rajahmundry (East Godavari dt.), Bhimadolu (West Godavari dt.) and Hyderabad Airport 2 each and Kovalam (Kanchipuram dt.), Sivakasi (Virudhunagar dt.), Pondicherry Airport, Vandavasi (Thiruvannamalai dt.), Harur and Hosur (both Dharmapuri dt.), Peraiyur (Madurai dt.), Yellamanchilli (Visakhapatnam dt.), Tuni and Bidar 1 each.

FORECAST (Valid until Wednesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Telangana. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.
