Vain bid to poison IAS officer

By Our Staff Reporter

Hyderabad Sep. 22. A ten-year-old boy, Ramu, working in the house of a senior IAS officer, G. Murali Krishna, was charged with attempting to kill the latter by offering him mixed with poison on Sunday evening.

The Banjara Hills police have registered a case (crime number: 764/2003) under section 307 of IPC following a complaint lodged by Mr. Murali Krishna, the Principal Secretary of General Administration Directorate (GAD). The IAS officer grew suspicious when he saw the milk in somewhat brown colour.

When his family members searched the house, a bottle containing some liquid, suspected to be poison, was found. They immediately lodged a complaint with the police who sent the bottle and the milk for chemical analysis. On being questioned, Ramu reportedly told the police that he mixed some powder in the milk at the behest of Ramulu (22), who earlier worked in the house of Mr. Krishna.

However, when contacted, the Banjara Hills ACP, B.V. Chander Rao, on Monday categorically stated that no such case was registered.

Surprisingly, details of the case were clearly stated in the Daily Situation Report, a daily record of all cases registered by the city police, of Sunday.
