The 36 probables undergoing a camp since September 8 at the SAI South Centre here have been short-listed to 22 by the three member selection committee comprising the Indian Women's Hockey Federation (IWHF) president, Vidya Stokes, Olympian Jalaluddin Rizwan and D.D. Singh besides chief coach M.K. Kaushik. Haryana's Jasjeet Kaur and Deepika Thakur from Chandigarh are the two new faces in the squad that will be without regulars Mamta Kharab and Neha Singh both of whom are nursing injuries. Regarding the federations effort to rope in foreign coaches for the women's team, Ms. Stokes said that "no coaches from either Australia nor Netherlands were interested in taking up the assignment''. Kaushik was however confident of good showing from the girls. The team: Helen Mary, Deepika Murthy, Marita Tirkey; Suman Bala, Kanti Bala, Pushpa Pradhan, Neelima Kujur; Suraj Lata Devi (captain), Subhadra Pradhan, Masira Surin, Gurpreet Kaur, Suman Tete, Fulmani Soy, Manju; Shangai Ibehmai Chanu, Adiline karketta, Jasjeet Kaur, Annarita Karketta, Surinder Kaur, Jyoti SUnita Kullu, Deepika Thakur and Meenakshi. Chief coach: M.K. Kaushik. Asst. coach: B.S. Chouhan. Manager: Manjeet Kaur.
