The profit before tax and impairment of assets has gone up to Rs.112.10 crores from Rs. 20.30 crores in the previous year. The profit after tax is placed at Rs. 92.65 crores against 15.36 crores. The company has declared a dividend of 100 per cent following the encouraging results. The revenue from the computer system business is Rs.1103.70 crores (Rs. 912.6 crores). This business reported a profit before interest and taxes of Rs. 91.30 crores (Rs. 37.80 crores). The revenue from the office automation and telecommunication business is placed at Rs.1,521.60 crores (Rs. 303.70 crores). The profit before interest and taxes from this business is Rs. 47.90 crores (Rs.15.6 crores). Ajai Chowdhry, Chairman and CEO of the company, spoke to this correspondent from New Delhi that the jump in desktop PC sales and growth in service business primarily contributed to the increase in top as well the bottom line. More than anything else, the rupee appreciation had also come in handy for the company. In his reckoning, a strengthened rupee alone had contributed close to Rs. 6 crores to the bottom line. To a question, he said HCL Infosystems was a large importer of components.
