This would reduce its capital expenditure to a large extent said Mr. Krishnamoorthy. The chief of the suiting division said over a period the company would outsource 5-10 per cent of the total fabric it was marketing. The company was focussing on research and development. It had so far spent Rs. 25-30 crores on the fabric R & D centre. At present, the company was concentrating only on men's suiting. It was doing a survey for women's wear. However, the company is in the women's wear through its garment segment under the brand name `Allen Solly'. Today, Grasim launched a new range of fabrics under the brand name `Freedom' in Chennai. Mr. Krishnamoorthy said the fabric was a blend of polyester and viscose and had a different texture, which imparted a smooth and comfortable feel.
