SSTP-BHEL bags safety award

TIRUCHI: The Seamless Steel Tube Plant (SSTP) of BHEL, Tiruchi, has won national safety qward in two categories for 2002. The SSTP was adjudged the best both in `lowest average frequency rate' category and `longest accident free period' category.

The Senior Deputy General Manager (hot mill), M. Shanmugam, received the shield and the certificate on behalf of the SSTP from the Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Sahib Singh Verma, at a function held in New Delhi recently, says a release. The SSTP had won several national and state level awards in the past for adopting various safety measures, the release added. — By Our Special Correspondent
