Roadside cable ducts planned

GULBARGA SEPT. 23. The Karnataka Road Development Corporation Ltd. plans to provide reinforced PVC ducts alongside State highways and major district roads so that cellular phone companies can utilise them for laying optical fibre cables without damaging the roads.

The Managing Director of KRDCL, M.R. Kamble, told The Hindu that such a system was in vogue in Maharashtra. Service providers using the ducts for cables would have to pay a fee to the authorities concerned which would be used for maintenance of the roads.
