Monsoon vigorous over coastal A.P.

CHENNAI SEPT. 23. Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over coastal Andhra Pradesh and active over Telangana.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Telangana and at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh. Isolated rainfall occurred over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and south interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep and coastal Karnataka and dry weather prevailed over Kerala and North interior Karnataka.

The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in cm: Tenali (Guntur dt.) 10, Nandigama 9 and Chodavaram (Visakhapatnam dt.) 7.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm are: Tanuku (West Godavari dt.) 6, Guntur and Chintapalli (Visakhapatnam dt.) 5 each, Kaikalur (Krishna dt.), Bapatla and Nellore 4 each, Nizamabad 3, Narsipatnam (Visakhapatnam dt.), Kakinada, Kavali and Hanamkonda 2 each and Narasapur, Repalle (Guntur dt.), Podili (Prakasam dt.), Sulurpet and Gudur (both Nellore dt.), Metpalli (Karimnagar dt.) and Vellore 1 each.

FORECAST (Valid until Thursday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, at many places over Telangana and at a few places over North Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Rayalaseema. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over south Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Karnataka.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over coastal Andhra Pradesh during next 48 hours.
