Nod for contempt plea against Speaker sought

KOCHI SEPT. 23. A petition seeking sanction to file a contempt of court petition against the Speaker, Vakkom Purushothaman, for making statements against the judiciary has been filed before the Advocate-General, M. Ratna Singh. The petition was filed under Section 15 of the Contempt of Court Act. In his petition, Joy Kaitharam, journalist, pointed out that the instruction given by the Speaker to the Legislative Secretary not to accept a summons issued by the Judicial First Class Magistrate, Thiruvananthapuram, in the `fax case' was illegal.
