Naxals torch coal lorry

By Our Staff Reporter

WARANGAL SEPT. 23. People's War naxals set ablaze coal lorry bound for Kamalapur near Eturunagaram late last night. The lorry, engaged by a private company, was completely damaged.

According to information reaching here, the naxalites earlier tried to set ablaze an RTC bus bound for Hanamkonda. They asked the passengers get down and later, they deflated the tyres. When they tried to damage the vehicle, the passengers protested vehemently, saying they would be deprived of the facility.

After a short while, the naxalites spotted the lorry transporting coal to a private company at Kamalapur and they forced the driver to stop on Kondaparthy village outskirts in Tadvai mandal. They broke open the fuel tanks and doused over all and set it ablaze.

Contrary to the statements made by the PW leadership that they would not damage the public property, the PW cadre have been targeting private and public institutions and properties that were serving the larger sections. In Gorukothapalli of Regonda mandal, naxals raided the rural bank and made away with cash meant for extending loans to small and marginal farmers.

In a statement here today, the district Superintendent of Police, Nalin Prabhat said it was unfortunate that naxals were going against the wishes of people who wanted development and more facilities.

"Naxals should not test the patience of the public,'' the SP warned.
