May 8, 2002: Chief Minister Jayalalithaa informs Assembly that Government is considering a 2,000-acre Administrative City near Mammallapuram. Jan. 14, 2003: CMDA signs agreement with the Construction Industry Development Board of Malaysia for feasibility study of Administrative City at Thiruvidanthai village. Jan. 31: Jayalalithaa says that as the Administrative City will take 15-25 years to build, a new Secretariat will be constructed on Lady Willingdon College campus in next two years. April 4: Chief Minister announces in Assembly that a new Secretariat complex will come up on the Queen Mary's College campus. Sept. 1: Goverment Order issued for a new Secretariat complex at Kotturpuram, on Anna University campus and adjoining areas. Sept. 19: Government Order issued freezing land transactions at Thiruvidanthai and Thaiyur villages for the proposed Administrative City.
