Mr. Suresh, who reviewed the progress of the disposal of the petitions in various districts and heard some petitioners, expressed his displeasure over the 365 pending cases. He asked the officers to dispose of petitions within one month. The Principal Secretary, who addressed a meeting of the police officers at the office of the Director-General and Inspector-General of Police here, said that the Chief Minister's Secretariat was monitoring the action taken on the petitions that came to various departments, including the Police Department. "Accept or reject the petition in just 15 days and inform the same to the Grievances Department. What I want is compliance from the authorities concerned on the petitions, as I have to submit a report on the progress in disposing of the same to the Chief Minister's Secretariat," he said. He planned to hold such meetings at the DGP's office once in six months. Mr. Suresh, who has launched a unique programme of meeting the heads of department to speed up the disposal of petitions, plans to conduct a similar meeting at the Bangalore Development Authority.
