Hearing on plea against Gopal bail today

New Delhi Sept. 23. The Supreme Court will take up tomorrow the special leave petition filed by the Tamil Nadu Government challenging the September 19 order of the Madras High Court granting bail to R.R. Gopal, Editor of the Tamil bi-weekly, Nakkheeran.

As Mr. Gopal, arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, had not been released so far, a Bench, comprising Justice S.N. Variava and Justice H.K. Sema, today said the status quo would continue. Though the matter was listed today, it could not be taken up.
