The list was circulated among top officials guarding the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, during her brief visit to Sivaganga today. It includes a Tamil extremist who died in an encounter recently. Thousands of personnel, including the Additional-Director Generals of Police, S.V. Venkatakrishnan (Law and Order) and K. Natarajan (Intelligence), were involved in the security exercise at Sivaganga, where Ms. Jayalalithaa took part in a government function. The confidential file, specially prepared as a part of the security scheme drawn for the VVIP visit, was given to officers over and above the rank of Additional Superintendents of Police. "The idea was to alert the security agencies of the threat to Ms. Jayalalithaa emanating from hardcore extremists and to keep a watch on their movements at the venue," a top official told The Hindu.
