Giving these figures, the city traffic police said Rs. 29.49 lakh was collected as penalty from vehicle users for traffic rule violations from September 14 to 20. As many as 25,891 cases were booked during the period. A sum of Rs. 2.61 lakh was collected as fines for parking in no-parking areas in 2,406 cases. Among the violators of rules were 250 BMTC bus drivers, 5,051 lorry drivers, 3,628 autorickshaw drivers, 2,519 car drivers and 9,427 two-wheeler riders.
