Elections to college unions on Oct. 10

By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Sept. 23. The Syndicate of the University of Kerala, which met here today, expressed disagreement with the view that politics should be banned on campuses in order to maintain discipline there.

The special meeting also decided to strictly enforce the ban on smoking on various campuses of the university. It was decided to hold the elections to college unions in affiliated colleges, on October 10.

There exist many provisions in the existing university rules to effect discipline on the campus. College principals too have been given necessary powers to ensure discipline. The university's affidavit to the High Court on the case relating to campus politics, will reflect this view of the Syndicate.
