Tight security

HYDERABAD SEPT. 24. A 3,000-strong force has been drafted by the city police as part of bandobust for the Karwan bye-election on Friday.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the Additional Commissioner of Police, A. K. Khan, said 13 units of Strike Force, six of the Special Strike Force and 48 mobile parties would be deployed. Apart from 27 Additional Superintendents and Deputy Superintendent of Police, about 30 women sub-inspectors from the Grey Hounds and a considerable women police force from Vijayawada and Warangal were drawn up. Section 144 has been promulgated in the constituency, he said. Meanwhile, the West Zone police registered cases against the BJP organiser, D. Srinivas, on the charge of continuing election campaign beyond permitted hours on Tuesday. Cases were booked in the limits of Asifnagar, Golconda, Tappachabutra and Langerhouz police stations.
