This Day That Age
The pandas of Deoghar decided to open the gates of the sacred Baidyanath Temple for Harijans to enter and worship from the 27th. The decision was taken at a large assembly of the priestly pandas held in the courtyard of the Baidyanath Temple on the 24th under the presidentship of Mr. Ramraj Adware, Congress Member of Parliament. Prominent citizens of Deoghar also met and formed an Action Committee, with Pandit Shubram Jha as Chairman, to create a favourable atmosphere for the momentous temple entry. Dr. Sri Krishna Sinha was to lead them into the temple. Accreditation cards were to be given to those accompanying the Chief Minister to the temple and the local authorities were taking precautionary measures against untoward incidents.
