The subsequent boys' singles Tushar Liberhan versus Purav Raja title clash did not start due to wet court conditions in the International Tennis Federation's junior tournament 2003. Eventually, the organisers Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA), decided to abandon play at the Dr. G.A. Ranade Tennis Centre after mopping up operations under floodlights, forcing the four finalists to be satisfied with joint winners tag and 30 ITF junior points each. The stipulated points allocation is 40 for singles winner and 30 for runner-up in both categories, according to Tournament Referee Manoj Vaidya. Preeti and Tushar were in line for a double, having won the doubles finals on Friday. The option of postponed singles finals would have put boys' finalist Purav Raja in a quandary. The wildcard-turned-finalist was expected to join classes at Loughborough University, Leicester (Britain) on Monday by taking a Saturday night flight out of Mumbai. The joint winners declaration enabled him to stick to his travel plans, but without playing his career's first ITF junior final. Tushar (number one) was the only seed among four finalists, in an event marked by upsets, both Punam and Preethi were not seeded in the girls' main draw.
