By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD SEPT. 27. The indefinite strike call given by the Auto Drivers Joint Action Committee will keep autos off the road on the second day on Sunday with more drivers likely to join the stir demanding revision of minimum fare to Rs.10 and Rs.5 per km. The JAC convener Mohd. Amanullah Khan, in a release said a delegation of auto drivers met the Transport Minister, M. Damodar Reddy, on Saturday and submitted a memorandum. They opposed the decision to install electronic digital meters. as the move failed in Chennai and New Delhi and it would entail an additional expenditure of Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 7,000. Earlier, the auto drivers staged a dharna at Indira Park.

Meanwhile, the Transport department reiterated its open offer to the JAC representatives. When contacted, the Joint Transport Commissioner, C.L.N. Gandhi, said none of the union leaders had contacted officials. The ED, RTC, (Hyderabad-Karimnagar), Ch. Balakrishna, said the RTC had used 175 of the 210 spare buses available in the city region. "Out of 200 buses called from Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar, Medak and Nalgonda districts, we only used 100. We can tackle any emergency," he said.
