Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Staff Reporter
Sources said that presentations were made by marketing agencies and private producers of the southern States and the Prasar Bharati and DD officials promised to get back after sounding the higher authorities of the Mandi House in New Delhi. "There were heated discussions and we have put our point across. The DD authorities have not given us any time frame, therefore as of now our threat to black out sponsored serials stands," said a marketing agency head who was present at the meeting. The producers and agencies also formed All India Television Federation (South) with P. Sudhakar of Srikanth Productions as president. The executive committee members elected to the body thus far from the city include K. Venkateshwarlu, Madhu Mahankali and Kalyan J. Yakaiah. Sources said that more members were expected to be taken into the executive committee from all the southern States. While the Karnataka DD continues to face the blackout of sponsored serials, Thiruvananathapuram is to follow suit from October 1 and Hyderabad and Chennai would implement the same from October 6 if there was no positive response from the authorities. "We are also contacting our counterparts in West Bengal, Maharashtra and Orissa also. We would like to join hands and ensure there is a countrywide blackout of sponsored serials," sources said.
