Thieves make off with cash from two shops

BANGALORE SEPT. 27. Thieves broke into two shops in Jnanabharathi police station limits on Friday night and made away with cash kept there.

According to the police, the thieves entered a cement shop at Nagarabavi by breaking open the rolling shutters and took away Rs. 20,000.

In another incident, thieves broke into a grocery shop at Annapoorneshwari Nagar and made away with Rs. 120 in cash, the police said. Jnanabharathi police have taken up separate cases of burglary.

Run over by train

Manjunath (22), a resident of Babasapalya, was killed on the spot when he was run over by a train near Hejjala on the outskirts of the city.

The police found Manjunath's body on the railway tracks on Saturday. The police suspect that Manjunath might have suffered an attack of epilepsy while crossing the tracks. The Railway police have taken up a case of unnatural death.

Chain snatched

A man from Kerala was caught after he allegedly snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 6,000 from Sandhya of Sahakarinagar in Yelahanka police station limits on Friday. The police said that as Ms. Sandhya was walking near Kodihalli Gate after alighting from the Bangalore-Hindpur Passenger train, the man identified as Ratish allegedly snatched the chain. After Ms. Sandhya raised an alarm, the police and public caught Ratish. Yelahanka police have registered a case and arrested him.

Spare parts recovered

Ashoknagar police recovered automobile spare parts worth Rs. 60,000 by arresting Nayaz Pasha (25) of Siddapura on charges of theft. The police said that the accused had allegedly stolen the goods from Shanthinagar, Austin Town, and Yelagantanapalya in Ashoknagar police station limits. The police claimed that they had solved seven theft cases with the arrest of Pasha.

Man found murdered

A 26-year-old man was found murdered in a house in Subhashnagar, Begur, in Hebbugodi police station limits in Bangalore Rural district.

The police said the victim, Ajaikumar, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, had been hit with a hammer on the head. The police said the culprits were yet to be identified. Ajaikumar got married four years ago and his wife was in Uttar Pradesh, the police said. He was working for a building contractor and was staying with three other construction workers.

He had not gone for work on Friday. When his roommates returned from work, they found Ajaikumar lying dead, the police said. But they were informed about it only on Saturday morning. Ajaikumar's brother, Guddu, who works in Chikmagalur, has lodged a complaint with the police.

Commits suicide

An unidentified man aged around 55 committed suicide by consuming poison at a room in a lodge in Cottonpet police station limits recently. The body has been kept at Victoria Hospital mortuary, police said.

Body found

The body of a two-year-old boy was found in an open site in Mathikere on Saturday. The police suspect that the boy, who is yet to be identified, may have been smothered to death.
