Europe v U.S.

Sir, — In the article "Europe versus America" (Sept. 26), Vaiju Naravane has rightly pointed out the weak position of European countries in curtailing American autocracy. Europe can become a counterweight to the U.S. only if the various nations adopt a unified policy.
