According to police, the thieves took away only gold jewellery from the house of Dr. Madhukar and did not touch silver articles. Police said Dr. Madhukar had locked his house and gone to a relative's house in Malleswaram. When he returned home around 10.30 p.m., he found the front door opened and the jewellery missing. Computer chips recovered: Airport police arrested Narasimha (22) and recovered computer memory chips worth Rs. 1.85 lakh from him. Police said Narasimha of Vannarpet near Viveknagar used to visit Apar Infotech on Airport Road under the guise of seeing a friend and allegedly stole the chips. Handsets seized: The City Market police arrested Mujahid Pasha (18) of Kengeri Satellite Town, who allegedly stole mobile phones from people in crowded areas. The police have recovered 17 mobile phones worth Rs. 70,000 from him. Shops raided: Upparpet Police raided shops in Burma Bazar and Old Hongkong Bazar in Gandhinagar and seized pirated video compact discs (VCDs) and MP3 discs, valued at Rs. 80,000, of Telugu, Hindi, and English films. In this connection, the police arrested Suresh (21) of Pipeline Road, Malleswaram, and Rakeshkumar (29) of Weavers' Colony, Srinagar.
