Rain likely in coastal Karnataka

CHENNAI SEPT. 29. Southwest monsoon has been active over south interior Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at many places over south interior Karnataka and at a few places over North interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and coastal Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep.

Hoskote (Bangalore rural dt.) recorded a heavy rainfall of 8 cm.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm: Kodaikanal, Kunnamkulam (Thrissur dt.) and Malur (Kolar dt.) 6 each, Hosur (Dharmapuri dt.) and Devanahalli (Bangalore Rural dt.) 4 each, Kangeyam (Erode dt.), Sivagangai, Chintapalli (Visakhapatnam dt.), Basavakalyan (Bidar dt.) and Hesaraghatta (Bangalore Urban dt.), 3 each, Koilkuntla (Kurnool dt.), Talikot (Bijapur dt.) and Bangalore Airport 2 each and Tiruthuraipoondi (Thiruvarur dt.), Thammampatti (Salem dt.), Bhavanisagar (Erode dt.), Anakapalle (Visakhapatnam dt.), Kaikalur (Krishna dt.) Kakinada, Humnabad (Bidar dt.), Bangalore, Yelahanka, Nelamangala (Bangalore Rural dt.) and Helandur (Chamrajanagar dt.) 1 each.

FORECAST (Valid until Wednesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over coastal Karnataka. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and interior Karnataka.
