ERODE: State Bank of India will introduce a new system called core banking system in select 15 SBI branches in Tamil Nadu including Erode, said the Deputy General Manager (Commercial) SBI, R. Venkatachalam, on Monday when he was addressing presspersons. He said through this system, anybody could send money to the 15 centres through DD or TT and within ten minutes the amount would be credited or handed over to the person to whom it was sent. Mr. Venkatachalam said SBI had advanced Rs. 11000 crores in Tamil Nadu to various sectors, mainly to exporters of textiles, and leather and it had only 6-7 per cent NPA which would be reduced to 2 per cent within a couple of years. SBI proposed to start ATM centres in select Railway stations and Air Ports, he added. Erode SBI Commercial Branch Assistant General Manager, J. F. Durgham, was also present. Our Staff Reporter
