Letters to the Editor
Sir, At the recent session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Kashmir problem emerged yet again. The issue will never be resolved as long as Pakistan arrogates to itself the role of godfather and mouthpiece of Kashmir. Pakistan's ostensible collaboration with the U.S. against global terror is a contrived ploy to win American support for its designs in Kashmir. Bhan Mahabir, Durban * * * Sir, Pervez Musharraf has blamed India for not holding talks on Kashmir and other issues in spite of his several requests. I think the General should be reminded that it was Atal Bihari Vajpayee who initiated the Lahore bus diplomacy, which was promptly sabotaged by him. If Gen. Musharraf is so keen on improving bilateral ties, why can he not extend a friendly gesture by handing over Dawood & Co. to India? V.V.S.R.K. Rao, Visakhapatnam, A.P.
