Sir, I met a freedom fighter in 1981, who had donated his personal land for the Bhoodan movement and did not wear a shirt in deference to Gandhiji's call for leading a simple life. He refused to draw the freedom fighter's pension. It is unfortunate that politics and power have become a means for earning quick money and protecting the ill-gotten wealth today.
