Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Supreme Court's judgment barring the right to strike, and its recent ruling rejecting permission seeking review of its earlier judgment are highly commendable. People in developing countries should not entertain or encourage strikes. The worst affected are the employees and their families, and not those who instigate such strikes. N.R. Narahari, Hosur, T.N. * * * Sir, The Court has underscored the point that the right to strike may be a right under the Trade Unions Act and Industrial Disputes Act, but it is certainly not a fundamental right under the Constitution. K. Pradeep, Chennai * * * Sir, I refer to the Calcutta High Court order banning rallies and processions in the city on weekdays, which is commendable. It will be good if such an order is passed at the national level. Taking out rallies, processions and bandhs have become rampant these days, with several parties sponsoring them for insignificant things. D.R. Seshu, Warangal, A.P.
