Decisions on Marad rehabilitation today

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM SEPT. 30. The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday morning is expected to take crucial decisions on resettlement of Muslims who fled Marad following the carnage there four months ago.

The Cabinet had earlier set October 2 as deadline for the resettlement. However, efforts to achieve this without use of force have not succeeded so far.

As the situation stands now, the Cabinet will have to either favour a CBI inquiry as demanded by the BJP and the Araya Samajam or go in for resettlement by force. The Chief Minister had discussions with Ministers from the Muslim League and other parties here today on this and other matters including the defeat in the Ernakulam by-election.

Another matter that is to come before the Cabinet tomorrow is the fee structure of the self-financing professional colleges.

As a private medical college has obtained a verdict against the Government order fixing the fee for students admitted under the merit quota, the Government has to decide on further course of action.
