V.V. Raghavan bereaved

THRISSUR SEPT. 30. C. Sathyabhama, a prominent CPI activist and wife of the veteran CPI leader, V.V. Raghavan, MP, died at a private hospital here today after a brief illness. She was 80.

Ms. Sathyabhama, who is also the sister of the former Chief Minister, late C. Achutha Menon, was the member of the party since the Fifties and had worked as the member of the district and State councils of the party.

She had also worked as the district president and State Joint Secretary of the Kerala Mahila Sanghom, and participated in several agitations led by the party.

Ms. Sathyabhama has three sons and a daughter.

She was admitted to the hospital with chest infection a few days back, but the death was caused by a cardiac arrest this morning.

Mr. Raghavan and her children were at her bed-side when she breathed her last.

A host of leaders and people from various walks of life condoled the death of Ms. Sathyabhama.
