The bazaar was set up by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on a special request from the chairman of the Tirupati municipality, K. Sankar Reddy, who paid a visit to the bazaar on Tuesday and expressed satisfaction at the arrangements. The TTD has allotted a stall to each of the representatives of the 37 women's groups. The stalls put on display the usual products that are sold by the DWCRA and CMEY groups like soft toys, cane and jute items, caps, etc. Women are making business of about Rs.1,000, sometimes touching Rs. 2,000 a day. To a request by women for a permanent structure on the hills to house an exclusive bazaar for their groups, Mr. Reddy promised to take the matter to the notice of the TTD officials and the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, who would be arriving here on Wednesday to present silk `vastrams' to the Lord on behalf of the State Government. The municipality was ready to spend Rs.30 lakhs towards financial assistance to the women, he said.
