Tight schedule for CM today

By Our Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI. Sept. 30. A tight schedule awaits the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, as he flies in here tomorrow at 9.30 a.m. on a two-day progamme. Nearly ten programmes are arranged by various agencies for the Chief Minister at Tirupati tomorrow alone and his programmes for the next day before his departure from Tirumala hills after an overnight stay are not mentioned in his minute-to-minute programme.

The main purpose of his visit tomorrow is to present a pair of silk `vasthrams' on behalf of the State Government in line with an age-old custom to Lord Venkateswara on the eve of his Garuda Seva scheduled for the night. The Chief Minister and his entourage would take the vasthrams to the hill temple in a grand procession and offer the same to the high priest in the sanctum sanctorum. The silk robes would be adorned to the deities during the Garuda Seva later in the night when nearly a lakh devotees would witness the `seva'.

As per the Chief Minister's revised programme, though he would arrive at 9.30 a.m., a spare time of 90 minutes is set apart for him at Tirupati immediately after his arrival. He is expected to utilise the time for an interaction with party leaders as he might not have any time for the political parleys after he reached Tirumala in view of the ban on political activities on the hills.

At Tirupati, he would lay the foundation stone for landscaping of Ramachandragunta at 11 a.m. He would later declare open the massive `Srinivasam Complex', a 560-room choultry built by the TTD at a cost of Rs.32 crores for the benefit of the visiting pilgrims. He would also lay the stone for the `Harinavasam' complex opposite the railway station to be built at a cost of about Rs.28 crores by the TTD.

The Chief Minister would later commission the Forensic Lab of the Police Department developed at the MR Palle area. At Sri Padmavathi Mahila University, he would unveil the statue of late NTR, a tribute to the TDP founder whose brainchild was the university. He would later proceed to the Sanskrit University and lay stones for certain blocks to be built on the campus.

After a brief rest at TTD's Padmavathi guest house here from 1.20 p.m. to 2.20 p.m., he would resume his itinerary with a visit to the TTD's superspeciality hospital, SVIMS, for the launching of the BT Block and participate in the programme arranged the landmark achievement of 1000-free surgeries under the TD's `Pranadanam' scheme.

He would later motor up the Tirumala ghat road and arrive at the Bedi Anjaneyaswamy temple for the vasthram presentation at 4.30 p.m. He would later have a darshan of the Lord and would return to his suite at 5.20 p.m. There is no programme for the him later. Meanwhile, security has been beefed up for the ongoing Brahmothsavam.
