Naidu motives suspect: YSR

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD Sept. 30. The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has alleged that the Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu's plan to bring Formula One races to Hyderabad is only aimed at promoting real estate ventures of a few individuals in the State.

Participating in a rally organised by the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee from Gandhi Bhavan to GPO in protest against "the anti-people'' policies of the Government in connection with the Jan Jagaran Abhiyan on Tuesday, he said despite the "tall claims'' by the Chief Minister, the eight-year TD rule was completely ridden in scandals. The fake stamp paper scam, the Big Boss scam and other scams were only a few examples of the various scams in which ruling party leaders were involved.

(Addressing presspersons in the Assembly lobbies, Dr. Reddy, wrapping up his party's performance in the just-concluded session said the Opposition succeeded in "exposing'' the Government's failures "on all fronts.'' "The Government stands exposed. Our strategy worked and we could highlight all major problems," he said.

He defended the Congress' decision to broaden the scope of the debate on the criminalisation of politics and scams instead of focussing only on the fake stamp paper scam. As a result of the Opposition efforts, the High Court observations on the continuance of the Housing Minister, P. Rama Subba Reddy, in the Cabinet and the Central Government's refusal to permit the CBI to prosecute the Health Minister, Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, could be effectively highlighted.)

The former PCC president, M. Satyanarayana Rao, appealed to people to throw communal and regional parties out of power whenever elections were held.

Several senior Congress leaders including the Rajya Sabha member, Nandi Yellaiah, the PCC vice-president, K. Ram Reddy, the PCC general secretary, P Sudhakar Reddy, PCC treasurer, D. Vittal Rao ,and others participated in the rally.
