Karnataka-Bangalore
By Our Staff Reporter
In his report to the Government, which was made available to the media on Monday, the Lokayukta, Justice N. Venkatachala, asked the Government to issue appropriate orders to initiate disciplinary proceedings immediately. This was necessary to free the administration from government servants who were prima facie guilty of gross misconduct and corruption, he noted. The other two officials who were found guilty by the Lokayukta were the Additional Drugs Controller, H. Jayaram, and the Deputy Drugs Controller, B.G. Prabhakumar, (in charge of blood bank and intelligence). The Lokayukta inspected the Drugs Control Department sometime ago on complaints of irregularities. The authority and his team found several irregularities, omissions, and commissions by the Drugs Controller and his staff during inspection. Later, he launched an extensive investigation, which led to the disclosure of the scam in which the public were swindled of crores of rupees by drugs companies.
