Floral tributes to Mahatma

Pondicherry Oct. 2. The Lieutenant Governor, K. R. Malkani, the Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, the Education Minister, K. Lakshminarayanan, the Agriculture Minister, A. Namassivayam, the Speaker, M.D.R. Ramachandran, the Pradesh Congress Committee president, V. Narayanasamy, the Inspector-General of Police, U.K. Katna, and legislators were among those who paid floral tributes to the Mahatma on the occasion of his 134th birth anniversary here today. They garlanded the statue of the Mahatma on the beach road.

Recitation of hymns and reading out of excerpts from the holy books marked the occasion.

Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated at the Community College run by the Pondicherry University at Lawspet . The director, K. Ramachandran, presided.

Kamaraj remembered

Mr. Rangasamy, accompanied by his Cabinet colleagues, Mr. Ramachandran and Mr. Narayanasamy garlanded the statue of Kamaraj on the occasion of his 28th death anniversary.

TMC volunteers led by Theni C Jayakumar, MLA, today paid floral tributes to Gandhiji and Kamaraj at the party headquarters at Villianoor.
