Cleanliness drive in police quarters

By Our Staff Reporter

Pondicherry Oct. 2. V. Narayanasamy, Rajya Sabha member-elect, today inaugurated the `shramdhan' programme organised by the Pondicherry Police department to give a facelift to the sprawling site accomodating the training school, residential quarters of the police and fire service personnel and the offices of the staff at Gorimedu near here.

Mr. Narayanasamy said Pondicherry was attracting a lot of tourists and there was an inevitable necessity to keep the Union Territory garbage-free. The IG of Police, U. K. Katna, said the cleanliness drive was a fitting tribute to the Mahatma. Mahatma Gandhi had stressed cleanliness and hygiene as parts of essentials of a good living system for the people.
