HYDERABAD: The A.P. Private Medical and Dental College Managements Association has clarified that there are no differences among the private college managements and the variations in admissions in the "B" category were only to meet the deadline set up by the Medical Council of India (MCI) with regard to admissions. In a statement here, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, president of the association, said that the Central Government gave permission to four new medical colleges and one dental college on September 30th and asked them to complete the admissions on the same day. In order not to lose those seats, the newly permitted colleges surrendered the "B" category seats to the University. If this was not done, the State would have lost 124 medical seats and 25 dental seats unnecessarily. Mr. Ajay Kumar said that due to these administrative problems, 174 students got admissions in the "B" category despite not being in the merit list but they were few compared to 2,690 candidates who got admitted in this category. He said parents and students should criticise the Central Government for not extending the deadline despite giving permission to the colleges on the last day of the deadline set.
