Gopal appears in POTA court

KANCHEEPURAM OCT. 3. L. Rajendran, judge of the special court at Poonamallee, near Chennai, today extended till October 8 the remand for R.R. Gopal, editor, Nakkheeran, arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act. He was produced in the court amid tight security.

Though Mr. Gopal is completing 180 days in custody on October 8, no charge sheet has been filed as yet, because a Supreme Court stay is in operation. The police are moving the court to get the stay vacated so that they could file the charge sheet, according to prosecution sources.
