dated October 9, 1953: Elephants Outside Quota

It was announced in New Delhi on the 7th that the Government of India had decided to give up quota control pertaining the export of elephants. Earlier a limit of 126 elephants had been fixed as the quota for 1953. With decontrol, no licences would be required to send pachyderms abroad.
