Plea against applying POTA against accused in Pandya murder

By Our Special Correspondent

AHMEDABAD Oct. 8. The Special Court set up to try cases under the Prevention of Terrorism Act has admitted a petition challenging the application of POTA against the accused in the murder of the former Gujarat Minister of State for Home, Haren Pandya. The petition filed on behalf of 10 of the accused in the case in the court of the special judge, Sonia Gokani, also raised questions about the investigations conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the case and demanded that it be conducted like a normal murder trial. It said the investigating authorities had failed to take note of the statements made by Mr. Pandya's father, Vithhalbhai Pandya, accusing the Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, of being behind the "politically-motivated murder."
