CHENNAI OCT. 9. Yesterday's depression over Orissa and adjoining Chatisgarh moved Northeastwards and weaken into a well marked low pressure area and lies today morning over Jharkhand and neighbourhood.

Rainfall occurred at a few places over Telangana, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Isolated rainfall occurred over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms.: Madikeri and Red Hills (Tiruvallur dt.) 4 each. Poondi and Tamaraipakkam (both Tiruvallur dt.) 3 each, Rasipuram (Namakkal dt.), Thammampatti (Salem dt.), Cholavaram (Tiruvallur dt.) and Irinjalakuda (Thrissur dt.) 2 each and Valparai, Vaniyambadi (Vellore dt.), Adiramapatnam, Kochi Airport, CIAL Kochi, Aluva (Ernakulam dt.), Kakinada, Rajamundry (East Godavari dt.) Ramagundam, Sirsilla (Karimangar dt.), Vikarabad (Renga Reddy dt.), Mangalore Airport and Karkala (Udupi dt.) 1 each.

On Wednesday, the maximum temperature rose appreciably at a few places over Telangana, Kerala, South Tamil Nadu, rose at many places over North Tamil Nadu and at one or two places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh.They were appreciably below normal at a few places over North Interior Karnataka and at one or two places over Telangana, North Tamil Nadu, below normal at one or two places over rest Telangana, appreciably above normal at a few places over Coastal Tamil Nadu, South Tamil Nadu and at one or two places over Coastal Karnataka, above normal at one or two places over South interior Karnataka.

FORECAST (Valid until Saturday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Rayalaseema.
