In a statement here today, the district Superintendent of Police, Nalin Prabhat, said the Warangal Khammam division committee secretary, Yadagiri, headed the camp which was being attended by division committee members Buchanna, Lathakka and 25 other PW cadre. On spotting the police party, the naxals fled from the spot leaving huge ammunition and other belongings. Police suspect that some of the naxals might have been injured when they opened fire in retaliation. However, all of them managed escape. Police recovered one SBBL gun, 20 Claymore mines, 50 kg explosive material, iron pellets, 30 electric detonators, 12 cartridges, two camera flashes, two soap bombs, six kitbags, one Sony digital camera and video camera, one tent, wire bundle, rice and utensils from the spot. Following the incident, the police began intensive combing in the forest area.
