Tie-up with Austrian firm for Sky Bus Metro

NEW DELHI OCT. 11. The Konkan Railway Corporation today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/S. Elin EBG Traction of Austria for technological collaboration for the Sky Bus Metro. Under the agreement inked on Friday by B. Rajaram, Managing Director of Konkan Railway Corporation, and the head of the Austrian company, Christian Serjannis, technological support will be provided by the company in the field of design, development, manufacture, supply and testing and commissioning of electrical propulsion and traction automations and control system.

The Sky Bus Metro is an innovative and cutting edge technology alternative transportation solution, which completely eliminates probability of vandalism, accidents and is virtually maintenance-free. It is highly cost-effective rail based on urban mass transportation system costing almost half to one-fourth of other existing systems. It uses well-proven rail guided bogie systems and the state of the art three phase AC Drives with ICBT-based variable voltage variable frequency control for propulsion.

The company is the original manufacturer of traction packages and vehicle control systems. Later, the Austrian delegation called on the Railway Minister, Nitish Kumar, and discussed measures for cooperation between the railways of the two countries. They agreed that the two countries would cooperate in the field of modernisation of rail services.
