Mallya to visit Dakshina Kannada, Udupi districts

By Our Staff Correspondent

Udupi Oct. 11. The Senior Vice-President of the State unit of the Janata Party, R. Pradeep Kumar Reddy, today said that the national Working President of the party, Vijay Mallya, would be visiting Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts on October 20 and 21.

He told presspersons here that Mr. Mallya would inaugurate party offices in Udupi and Padubidri on October 20. He would address a party workers' convention ion Udupi, where he would announce a programme for youth and women. Mr. Mallya would also interact with college students during his visit.

On October 21, Mr. Mallya would address party workers at the Bunts Sangha Hall in Mangalore and also at Bantwal. He would also interact with the students there, Mr. Reddy said.

According to him, the Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna's comments on the CBI showed his "dictatorial nature".

Mr. Krishna statement that he would not hand over any case to the CBI during his tenure showed a negative attitude. There were many cases such as the stamp paper racket, and the Nagappa episode, which required a probe by the CBI. Besides, the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh had demanded a probe into the stamp paper scam. This only exposed the double standards of the party. If the Government did not order a probe into these two issues, the Janata Party would launch an agitation against it, he warned.

The Janata Party was opposed to online lottery. The Government had failed to find any solution to the problems faced by farmers, many of whom had committed suicide, he charged. The "Janaspandana" programme launched by Mr. Krishna was nothing but a drama, he alleged, adding that it was an election gimmick for which government machinery was being utilised.

Workers of other parties such as the BJP, the Congress, and the various factions of the Janata Dal would join the Janata Party in Udupi on October 20 when Mr. Mallya would be visiting the district, Mr. Reddy claimed.
