VTU takes action against students on ragging charge

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE Oct. 11. Three students of the city's M.V.J. College of Engineering have been debarred from attending college on the charge of ragging first-year students on October 9. They were also removed from the college hostel.

The action came after a preliminary investigation conducted by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Vice-Chancellor, K. Balaveera Reddy, in the presence of the college principal and hostel wardens.

The students against whom action were taken are Manjunath Chandrashekhar and Maria Jude Britto, both from seventh semester Mechanical Engineering, and Sneha Baid, a student of third semester Electrical Engineering.

A committee has been constituted with B.N. Krishna Murthy, former Director of Technical Education, as Chairman to hold an investigation into the incident and give a report at the earliest.
