TDP faulted for trying to create `artficial sympathy'

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD Oct. 12. The Congress Forum for Telangana on Sunday faulted the TDP leadership for trying to take advantage of the attack on the party president and Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, and trying to generate "artificial sympathy" by mobilising people.

Addressing a press conference here, the CFT leader and MLA, P Goverdhan Reddy, criticised the TDP leaders for transporting DWCRA women free of cost in RTC buses, which is already facing huge losses.

The district education officers, on their part, were issuing instructions to school managements to send school children to meet the Chief Minister.

"When the people of the backward areas are facing severe hardship, the TDP's move to create artificial sympathy and take advantage of it by advancing the elections is not proper," he said.

Referring to the Chief Minister's comments that he would rededicate himself to public service, he said that if Mr Naidu is really committed to alleviate the problems faced by the people, he should take steps for early completion of the Godavari lift irrigation projects in the larger interests of the people.

The Government, which was not concerned about the completion of Inchampally and Yellampally projects, was trying to cheat the Krishna delta farmers with its promises on completion of Pulichintala project.

"When there is no water in the Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar projects, how is the Government planning to supply water to Pulichintala," he questioned.

At the same time, he termed it unfortunate that the Rayalaseema leaders were trying to pressure the Government to release Krishna water into the K-C canal despite the fact that they do not have any rights over the water.

Referring to the criticism of the CFT president, G Chinna Reddy, by some Youth Congress leaders at Warangal, he said that the youth wings of the party, Youth Congress and the NSUI, should change their attitude and strive for the real issues instead of confining themselves to slogan-shouting.

He also urged the PCC president, D Srinivas, to ensure that the issues pertaining to Telangana were raised from Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress headquarters in the State.

"There is not a single spokesman who speaks about the issues pertaining to Telangana from Gandhi Bhavan," he said.
