Test drawn

Ahmedabad Oct. 12. Craig McMillan and Nathan Astle with a defiant unbroken 103-run seventh-wicket stand dashed any hopes India harboured of winning the first Test at the Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium here today.

Set 370 for a victory, New Zealand played out the last day finishing at 272 for six to force a draw and thus keep alive their hopes of winning the two Test series. Rahul Dravid was adjudged the man of the match for his first innings double century and a quickfire 50 in the second. — UNI
