Letters to the Editor
Sir, I refer to the article, "The use and misuse of POTA" (Oct. 10). Inder Malhotra's reference to Arun Jaitley's argument that a mere speech in support of the LTTE is not a ground for action under POTA, and his anguish that it did not pass muster in any POTA court is shocking. If the arguments of the Law Minister, or, for that matter, the Prime Minister are to pass muster in any court of law, what will happen to the rule of law?
K.S. Kasinathan,
Sir, The MDMK's sympathetic support to the LTTE is similar to what Indira Gandhi and M.G. Ramachandran extended to the organisation. Politicians are not judicial experts. The Supreme Court should immediately intervene and put an end to the misuse of POTA.
S. Prakash,
Sir, It is unfortunate that the semblance of freedom given to the CBI is being taken away by the enactment of the Single Directive. With this, the CBI has become virtually powerless. Politicians and `babudom' seem to have prevailed.
Sai Kumar C.,
